Test drove vehicle prior to inspection and found the vehicle pulled to the right and the vehicle begins to shake at 45mph+. Inspected vehicle's steering and suspension components and found both of the lower front control arms (two piece lowers front and rear arms ) have worn ball joints and the bushings are torn at the chassis. The upper left side control arm ball joint does have some movement as well. Found the rear driveline carrier bearing is torn and could be causing the higher speed vibration. Found the right rear tire is low, recommend flat repair check and computerized tire balance prior to any additional repairs made. Recommend replacement of the rear drive line carrier bearing if tire balance does not correct the vehicle vibration. Recommend replacement of the lower front “front and rear” control arms and the upper left control arm and performing computerized alignment.
No check engine light at this time vehicle seams to be running as designed at this time
Replaced wheels.
4 new wheels installed Brakes 6mm Trq 110ft pounds 35psi
Remove wheels from vehicle. Inspect brakes. Computer spin balance. Reinstall wheels to vehicle and torque lug nuts to manufacturer's specifications.
Removed both the left and right side lower control arms and replaced with new and lubricated related components.
Removed the old left front upper control arm and replaced with new and lubricated related components
Performed computerized alignment after repairs were made and set vehicle as close to factory spec as the suspension components would allow. Attempted to shift the front subframe to correct the front caster and the subframe would not shift in the direction needed to make the caster correction. The rear camber on this vehicle is not adjustable. Test drove vehicle to confirm it drives straight at this time and the customer concern of vibration has been resolved at this time.
INCLUDES SCANNING OF PERTINENT MODULES, RESEARCH OF CODES FOR POSSIBLE CAUSES, AND ESTIMATING TIME NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE CODES(S) Inspected, pulled code p0404 egr position sensor performance. This code was originally in codes but wasn’t present. Was a stored code. We never diagnosed this code. Vehicle also has newer egr valve, not installed here. Need to diagnose this code separately.
Replaced egr valve and gaskets road tested with scanner egr valve works and egr position sensor reads different voltage when egr is commanded on cleared codes road tested recheck ok.
